YOGA RETREATS BARCELONA

Our urban yoga retreats in Barcelona are a getaway, a week of yoga, wellbeing, cultural and healthy days in Barcelona.

Our aim  is to create a beautiful space to practice and enjoy all the pleasure of a modern Yoga lifestyle.

On our yoga retreats in Barcelona you will find: daily yoga classes with great Barcelona International teachers, fantastic accommodation at the heart of Barcelona, daily vegetarian brunch and many extra optional activities such as onsite massage, paddle boarding, guided city tours, cycling, hikes etc..,  as well as therapies and alternative treatments.

Please note: that Yoga Weeks house is not a hotel, but a beautiful modernist guesthouse style space, perfectly suited for hosting a yoga retreat.

It is also important to highlight that we are located right in the heart of Barcelona. This offers a very different experience from a countryside retreat. As part of being in such a vibrant Mediterranean city, there may be a certain level of ambient noise.

Arrival Day

Please note schedule may slightly vary depending on season. Check your welcome email for precise information.

 

Check in -  will be on your arrival day from 10.00 - 15.00.  However we will be in contact before with all information and directions. Earlier/ Later check in can be coordinated.

Rooms will be ready from 15.00.

Check in

Check in will be from 10.00 to 13.00 or  later from 16.00 to 19.00.

We  please ask  you to book a flight arriving within check in times and avoid late night flights to respect the rest of other retreat guests and colleagues of the week. Also to allow the Yoga Weeks teams the chance to give you the best welcome possible.

How to get there

 

Airbus

This is a great option to reach Yoga Weeks. It has a frequency of every 10 minutes and the approximate journey time is 35 minutes. Last and main stop is Plaça Catalunya, which is about 5 minutes’ walk to Yoga Weeks. Once in the Plaça, walk down the famous street of Las Ramblas and turn right after 5 minutes in to Carme Street. Find number 40, and we are there. To return to the airport you can take the bus from the same stop as on arrival. Please check the bus is taking you to the right terminal at the top of the vehicle.

 

Taxi

There is a 24 hour taxi line at each exit in both terminals. You can recognize them for the yellow and black color. We recommend that you to use licensed ones for city sustainability. A taxi from the Airport to Yoga Weeks should cost between 30€ – 40€ depending on terminal and traffic.

Metro

The nearest tube stations walking distance from the Yoga Weeks Centre are Liceu(L3 green line) and Plaça Catalunya, where all main city lines and train stop.

 

Train

Daily connections with Barcelona Airport from Sants Station. Frequency: every 30 minutes. Journey time: 18 minutes.

 

Sants Train Station has connection with all main urban metro lines. To arrive at Yoga Weeks, buy a single or 10pass metro ticket.  Catch the L3 green metro line towards Canyelles, and stop at Liceu. From there it is only 2 minutes’ walk. Head up to las Ramblas and turn left into Carme Street until you find the number 40.

 

Bus

When arriving by bus at the Barcelona Estacio del Nord, head towards the metro entrance Buy a single or 10pass metro ticket. Catch the L1 red line towards Hospital de Bellvitge. Stop at Plaça Catalunya.

 

Car

Follow the signs for the Ronda Litoral ring road that will connect you to city centre. Whilst there follow directions to Yoga Weeks address.The estimated journey time from Barcelona city centre to the airport is about 20 minutes.

 

Parking on the streets of Barcelona is not a great option, as hourly charges and time limitations apply.  You will find a secured public parking (BSM) in front of Yoga Weeks. We recommend this option on a weekly tariff.

Our retreats and classes are carefully planned to each group. We have a very dedicated approach to everyone that participates to ensure wether you are a beginner or have an advanced practice you enjoy the practices regardless you age and physical state.  Our classes are based on Vinyasa Yoga, yet you will find influences from Yin Yoga, Ashtanga, traditional Hatha Yoga and restorative practices.

On our retreats you will have the opportunity to practice with experienced and recognised teachers based in Barcelona.

CENTRE

The Barcelona Yoga Weeks retreat centre was built in a big and beautiful modernistic house in the heart of Barcelona. The centre is located in a nice c street, yet minutes’ walk away from the central gothic neighbourhood and a 10 minute walk away to the beach of Barcelona.

 

Please note this is a unique spacious guest house style space.

The building is one of the catalogued examples of the modernistic movement (Gaudi’s movement) and was built in the year 1890. The building and the house has been conserved with all its magic features such as: Nolla colourful flooring, high and decorated ceilings, long and airy corridors, the iron works of the back facade and a smart distribution of the rooms allowing all of them to have access to outdoor spaces, such as internal patios or balconies. The building has the 1st elevator installed in the city, also dated 1890, a magnificent example of woodwork and engineering for old high class housing.

 

All rooms are spacious and carefully designed by one of the most creative and young design studios in Barcelona: PPT Interiors.  The result is a welcoming, highly beautiful and comfortable centre to stay, relax, socialise and practise yoga.

 

The centre can accommodate up to 10 guests at a time.

LOCATION

The centre is located behind La Boqueria Market, main and one of the oldest local food markets in the city. An amazing place to walk and explore local food in a great buzzy market.

 

We are also located between the popular street of Las Ramblas, one of the most beautiful promenades of the city and minutes walk from the seafront and the beach. Also the old Gothic Cathedral and neighborhood are steps away.

Barcelona is a vibrant cultural mediterranean city and we are right at the centre, so so please bare in mind there can be a certain level of noise like any other urban city.

THE YOGA SHALA AND ROOFTOP

The house has an airy yoga space with a chimney and a long wall to practice. We kept some of the beautiful old features adding a modernistic touch.

 

A constant merge of old and new, keeping the best of the past yet always moving forward!

 

There is also the amazing Rooftop located at the top of the building. A unique space  equipped with changing rooms and amazing outdoor showers, to practice Yoga whilst enjoying a great view , the sunrise and the sunset overlooking the city.

THE GALLERY AND PATIO

A beautiful gallery next to it brings the natural light to enjoy the practice. The brunch/breakfast is served after the class in the gallery, where you will have a big breakfast table and sitting area. There is also a beautiful and private outdoor patio with hammocks and showers where you can relax, sunbathe and enjoy a chat. These spaces will become your relaxing areas during the day, where you can hang out, relax, keep practising with our yoga trapeze and mats, socialise or enjoy one of our additional treatments.

KITCHEN

You will also have access to a fully equipped kitchen and your own storage. Please note that we allow strictly vegetarian food in the house. We want to respect our values and those of all guests. There are many cafes and restaurants a few steps away may you wish to have non vegetarian meals. Fresh tea and coffee will be available throughout the day.

At Yoga Weeks Barcelona, you will find a vegetarian or vegan daily delicious brunch cooked and ready after your morning practice. The food will not only be delicious but balanced and typically consists of vegetarian dishes, delicious salads, fresh bread and dips, fresh daily juice, natural fruits, muesli, porridge, coffee, and teas.

All our meals are vegetarian/Vegan, lactose and gluten free mainly.  We cannot promise to be able to cater for very special diets or specific intolerances, however we can try and accommodate some.  So if anything specific with your diet please don't hesitate to let us know as soon as possible so we can try and plan the best we can. You can mention that on the questionnaire.
