19 Jul Why Ibiza should be your next (yoga) holiday destination?
Ibiza is known for its notorious nightlife but the White Island has so much more to offer to its visitors!
Beautiful beaches, amazing food, relaxed atmosphere… We’ve gathered 10 reasons you should consider Ibiza as your next holiday destination.
1. Beautiful beaches
Ibiza has got some of the most beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean. From long stretch of golden sand to romantic hidden coves, you’ll definitely fall in love with the island’s incredible beaches. If you don’t know where to start, we particularly recommend the following :
- Las Salinas, the “cool” beach
- Sa Caleta, featuring amazing red cliffs and clear waters
- Cala Salada, surrounded by pine-forested hills
- Cala Benirrás, the hippies’ favorite sunset watching spot
2. Great weather all year long
With an average of 2732 hours of sun every year, Ibiza is one of the sunniest place in Europe. Even during the coldest months, you can expect an average temperature of 12°C, which is perfect to discover the hiking trails of the island !
In summer, the average temperature rises to about 25°C and the sea temperature can go as high as 26°C in August. If you need some sunlight, you know where to go… Ibiza of course!
3. Delicious food
Everybody knows that Spain has great quality products and wonderful dishes, but only a few know about the typical Ibizan specialities. We highly recommend you to try the “bullit de peix”, a typical Ibizan fish stew, the “ensalada de crostas”, a very tasty salad and the “flaon” which is a kind of cheesecake filled with ground almonds or pumpkin jam and honey.
4. Chilled-out atmosphere
Since the hippies first flocked on the island in the 1960s and 1970s, Ibiza has always attracted sun seekers from all over the world, wanderers, drifters and bohemians, creating a unique laid-back vibe that we love.
From hippy markets to organic restaurants and meditation camps, you’ll definitely find places that resonate with you.
5. Fun hippie markets
There are so many hippie markets in Ibiza you can probably go to a different one every day of the week !
On Wednesdays, go to Es Cana Punta Arabi market, the original and the biggest on the island. On Saturday, head to Las Dalias, probably the best known market on the island. On Sunday go to Portinatx or Cala Llenya.
6. Fascinating history and culture
Visiting Ibiza also means discovering cultural and architectural wonders.
Ibiza Town is particularly picturesque with the fortified Alta Vila declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
7. Glorious sunsets
There is no doubt Ibiza has some of the most inspiring sunsets in the world. The best part is that you can choose from a lot of different spots to watch the sky turn through a spectrum of red, orange, and pink… Our favourite? Es Vedra, without any doubt!
8. Countless activities to suit all tastes
From parasailing high above the sea to hiking in the hills, taking guided tours of the island by bike or diving, there are endless activities you can choose from to keep you busy on the island. But the best is probably just to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery while soaking up the sun…
9. Daytrips to Formentera
Ibiza is only a 30-minute ferry ride away from the wonderful island of Formentera. If you have a spare day, don’t hesitate to go and explore this hidden gem of the Mediterranean. You’ll find spectacular beaches with bright blue waters and perfect white-sands, charming typical fishers villages, delicious food and a very relaxing atmosphere.
